the little things

I'm stealing this from a wonderful friend who posted about this very same thing but, on my very first day off, I am feeling very grateful about the little things in my life :)

Firstly, I am STILL up at 5:00 but it doesn't even bother me because productivity has set in! I have made the bed, cleaned up, done dishes, started laundry, made monkey bread for my Hubby's birthday, and it's just now only 6:00! I woke up planning to go right back to bed as soon as Ben left and the monkey bread was done but now I am taking advantage of all my free time (at least until 10) and catching up on all the shows I never get a chance to see. It's a sad thing to say but the only show I have managed to keep up on (and now finish) is Jersey Shore! I'm not gonna lie, we watched it religiously on Thursday nights and when I say "we" I mean Ben and myself! He loves it just as much as I do! But, now it's over and looking forward to season 3 :)

Anyway, my Mom and Grandma came to visit my kiddos yesterday! My Mom read them a Halloween book and then they got to see/feel the inside of a pumpkin! One of my wonderful parent's brought in cupcakes for the whole class too! They were super cute all Halloween decorated! Needless to say, we finished my week on a good note! Let's hope the sub today can say the same thing!! PS-Thanks Mom and Grandma!!

So, on with the little things...
*drinking coffee out of my beautiful mugs as opposed to a travel mug!
*breakfast that does not come out of a wrapper!
*staying up past 9 (maybe 9:30 on a crazy night :)!
*having a laminator that works laminates! Mardels here I come!
*dinner and exploring City Centre with my Hubbs
*doing my own laundry and therefore not getting things that are too small, too short, or different colors :)

Heading to Galveston today for the weekend!! See ya on Monday with pictures!

Pumpkin Time!

Last weekend, we had the Raygor's over for some pumpkin carving! This picture was taken after we had already taken the edge off of a long day (if you can't tell :) We always have so much fun together and I'm so glad that they're in Houston!!

So, here is the result! Obviously, mine is the "W" and, you can't tell, but K & J's is being held together by a handy little toothpick! :)

And I know I said this one would be completely devoted to my social life but I forgot to add one little video to my last blog. My kids sang the "Fifty Nifty United States" song and they did a wonderful job! I'm so proud of them! Well, here ya go...

Oh! And I have a quote from one of my most entertaining students (btw, he is as white/blonde as they come): I walked over to this friend's desk because he was over there complaining about something. I ask him what's wrong and he says, "Mrs. Weber, I forgot how to read in English. I can only read in Spanish now!!" I just had to laugh. I don't know where he comes up with this stuff! It's something new every day!

Ben and I are headed to Galveston this weekend for the wedding a favorite cousin! Check back for some beautiful pictures!

From August to October...

So, I know I have been an awful blog poster but I'm going to use the first-year teacher excuse. I have been piled in work but it is slowly starting to get easier, less crazy, less stressful, etc. Just yesterday, I reached the Texas legal max of students in my classroom...22! I guess if they want to give me any more, they better give me an aide as well! So, my last post was before school started so I will pick up right where I left off...

My day begins at 5:10 AM (although today it began at 6 :/) and on the first day of school, my wonderful husband got up with me and took my "First Day of School" picture with my lunchbox!
I know I posted pictures of my classroom before I ever got my hands on it, so here are some more recently updated ones. It is MUCH messier in the real swing of things...

Since I'm on the subject of classrooms and such I will share some pictures that are a lot more recent. Last week, we finished studying maps so I had all of the kiddos bring in a pumpkin to paint into a globe! You will see one of them is still orange...he lost the privilege of painting his pumpkin blue but earned it back when we painted the continents the next day :)
That same week, we were talking about the states of matter, freezing, melting, etc. so on Friday we made ice cream in a Ziplock bag! I had never done this before so I had my doubts that it was going to work but lo and behold...it did! We had tasty vanilla ice cream for an afternoon snack! Luckily we have a back porch that we can use for messes like these.
So, those are all my exciting school adventures...my next post will be devoted to the things that I do outside of school (I promise they exist!! :) And, I'll give you an update on my husband since this blog is called The Webers. PS-we need a new name...this one is just not doing it for me!! Suggestions??
